About Me
Welcome to my online portfolio! My name is Britt and I'm a Brisbane based audio engineer with a passion for live entertainment. With a background in music and the creative arts, I possess experience, knowledge and technical skills in both live and studio-based audio engineering and music production.
My professional journey began with a Bachelor of Creative Arts degree, where I majored in Music at the University of Southern Queensland. Through my studies at UniSQ, I developed my skills in music performance, where I fell in love with electric bass. I also developed my theoretical knowledge, including music theory, structure and form, composition and arranging, critical listening and musical analysis. Fueled by my love for artistic collaboration, Australian music and indie bands and artists, I was inspired to take my career in the direction of audio production, moving to Brisbane to study a Bachelor of Audio at SAE Institute.
At SAE I developed myself as an audio practitioner, and discovered my love for live sound, and the important role audio plays in connecting the audience with the artist's musical expression and vision. Throughout my degree, I expanded my skillset to include a strong knowledge of signal flow, acoustics and sound design principles as well as operating and troubleshooting various audio equipment and software.
I currently freelance as a Front of House engineer and stagehand, working alongside professionals and bands including accomplished engineer Brett Cheney and the globally recognised ensemble Topology. I am regularly mixing at Brisbane's Doo-Bop Bar Basement and have joined the Brisbane Jazz Club's New Generation of Jazz initiative as a Front of House Engineer. In addition to my live sound work, I also produce radio campaign advertisements for the Cross River Rail infrastructure project.
I have a particular love of analogue production methods and instrumentation, however whether it's mixing front of house for a live band or fine-tuning tracks in the studio, audio production provides the perfect intersection of my technical abilities, desire for continuous learning and creativity.
